My 93 Sea Ray didn’t have a remote gear lube reservoir. On my 97 Maxum it’s on the starboard side and I do have closed cooling.

Are you switching drives from the Alpha to a Bravo? If not you don’t need the engine mounted raw water pump since the Alpha has the raw water pump in it.

Hi Joe, glad to hear it’s running. So you still need to resolve the power to the coil issue? This comes from the I terminal of the ignition switch.

Got ya, you may want to consider a 8.1 which replaced the 454 long ago however I don’t think Mercruiser is offering it anymore either. Of course if you plan to build an engine you could go either way.

I would go with dry joint, either can support full closed cooling or raw water cooling. Yes the type of joint doesn’t dictate the need for a spacer it’s the manifold height...

What you replaced are the sensors for the gauges which is separate from the alarm sendors for oil and water temp, these are separate units. The gear lube reservoir has a level alarm sensor as well.
