i just had to chop up almost the same boat due to everything rotted, lol . Im somewhat new but not really but i do know enough to know youd probably be better off repowering with a diffent motor. just like you i found out no one realy wants to touch these force motors. i had the force 90 in prestine condition and had trouble selling it. ended up selling it to someone that wanted to have spare parts and i still had to haggle him to pay $100 for it. i still have full dash with electrical and wheel and seats but not the bow. and a few other thing laying around the yard if theres something you need ask i might still have it. And im glad to see you taking on that project. when it hits water its all worth it. i always said worst case senerio is that it sinks, even then itll be one hell of a story to tell arounf the camp fire especially the part of trying to convince the wife that there was absolutly no alcohol involved in the sinking of the boat. aww good times...

I am junking the force...Trying to sell it whole to someone that'll take it for parts. I have this 93 Suzuki but now it basically needs to be rebuilt. I am not sure which route I want to go. It is a 2 stroke and I have minimal knowledge of small motors. I feel like I could take it apart myself and put it back together as long as all the parts needed are still in stock new somewhere. I know a guy (Coworker) who has rebuilt boats and engines who I could probably sweet talk into boring the block for me for less than having a mechanic do it, but I am probably going to still spend a pretty penny to do that all myself....Not to mention the extra time it is going to take on top of taking forever o get this boat completed. I could also choose to junk the Suzuki for scrap and save up and buy a functioning motor from a shop, but that is going to cost me more. Either way, I am going to end up paying something.....Just don't know which route to take. Going to save up regardless and try to focus more on the engine later on.

Appreciate the generosity! What kind of seats do you have? When I rebuild, I plan on upgrading to swivel seats. Don't want the back to back ones that fold down. The boat itself can hold a max of 750lbs, so in my opinion, I don't need so many seats. Open it up a little bit. Going to want all new dash stuff....Gauges, Meters, cigarette lighter outlet and whatnot. New lights etc. Haven't really put much thought into it yet as I am nowhere near that part of the process.

Oh God! I would hate myself if I put that much money into a rebuild only to have it sink! That's on of my biggest concerns! I have gone through the hull 6 times that I know of while cutting. I cringe when I think about missing a cut or overlooking one that I never even knew about. Another reason why I want to full re-gel coat the entire hull after the deck gets slapped back in. Turn it over and glass and gel coat everything that is currently being blocked by the trailer and bunks.

I make decent money and have no wife, just a very understanding better half, who doesn't care what I spend my money on as long as my half of the bills get paid.

I got out there today and hit it hard. Spent 6 hours cutting the remaining pieces out along with cutting the floor to expose old stringer remnants from a past restoration that were glassed over. I am hurting and hungry...... but I am also done with demolition!!! It's taken damn near 3 months but I'm finally done!!!! sure there are some pieces here and there that I might have missed.... but the the bs is out! So happy about that!

Next up........ sanding! Will go at it for another 4 hours or so tomorrow! Got my ryobi grinder and 4 boxes (40 total) of 40 grit sanding disks on standby

Gutted! What type of material do you plan to use for the rebuild, wood or a composite?

Given the age of the boat......I am thinking wood..... and just cover it all with resin or resin it's called.... the name of the product escapes me

3 hours Sanding today.* Everything... myself included.... looks like a Bakery exploded and flour for everywhere lol.* I got the entire bow sanded.* Accidentally saved through the hull early on.... oh well..add that to the list of holes to patch. One strange thing I found.... and o wonder of anyone can answer this......I found 6 stringer remnants total while grinding down....I realize that They run the entire length of the boat and were all glasses over except the 2 that I cut out...* Is this boat supposed to have 6 stringers? I really don't want to have to put more than needed bank in it......I also really don't want to cut them out........ I'm kinda done with the boat for the week.* I got my kids next week and really can't get myself this dirty when little ones are around. So the boat will have to wait for another 2 weeks. I need to get more ppe suits.* I zinged my finger with the grinder.* That hurt......I would say I have another 3 to 5 hours to go and then I'll be ready to clean it up and start rebuilding!*

I have also six stringers, less is difficult to build floor what dosent wobble. Center ones is around tank and if you have ski locker there are two. And two are outer to support floor. I over engineered center four to double size (36mm plywood) outer are 18mm. Also engine side pulkhead is 36mm. Stronger is always better Mine is solid as rock now.

Looks good! You also have a larger vessel, but thank you for the information anyway! Gives me useful information on how to redo my deck!

I NEED HELP. PLEASE SPEAK UP IF YOU'RE JUST FOLLOWING BUT HAVE HAD TO DEAL WITH THIS IN THE PAST.

Time for me to fess up about a mistake.

So I'm looking at some rashes right now from fiberglass exposure to my arms..... itchy as all hell as you all know! Is they're any way to get these microscopic shards out of my skin?

I will not be making this mistake again! I will wear painter's arm socks or tape the cuffs shut on the tyvek suit.

Please tell me how to help the itching. I'm also currently sick and will not be getting at the boat for a while.

Felt well enough to get up and take these photos.* Right hand and arm are a little worse than the left side.*

Eucerin location. Baby powered can help prevent this along with the things you mentioned.

When I am feeling like I want to get back at it, I will definitely be taking every conceivable precaution. I DO NOT want to experience this ever again!

WHEN DOES THE ITCHING, PAIN AND RASH END? LOL

I am still planning on continuing/finishing the grinding this Wednesday and Thursday, but I would so much rather do it without worrying about the current issue at hand. I have an appt with a dermatologist this Wednesday. That was the soonest I could get seen after waiting a week for this to go away on it's own. It has progressed from irritation and itching, to pain and swelling with minor open sores,. I have been doing decently well with not itching and have been on steroids for over a week now. Everything seems to have subsided and I can bare all of it 98% of the time. I am happy that the worst is hopefully over, but I do think that medical intervention is going to be necessary in my case. I don't know if my skin is super sensitive to this crap or if it just dug it's way in a little too far......but all I know is that I WILL NOT deal with this again, or at least if I do, it will be after taking every possible precaution. Guess this is just one of those things to chalk up to learning from life's little mistakes. Adding photos of my arms almost 2 weeks later. They were a lot redder than this, but the steroids have just taken effect the past few days and helped a little.

It really isn't too horrible anymore. The worst is over, as long as I can keep from re-exposing myself this badly again.
