Default 2001!?!?!?!?!? 2300SR 350 to 454 swap [Assistance!]

All,

I bought this boat new and have had a GREAT time with it.

Last Fall it had a catastrophic failure (heads, rods, etc...) and my daughter (who is the only one of my family that even cares about being out on the lake) has requested for her post-HS Senior and pre-College Freshman summer to spend the majority of the Summer on the lake.

I need the BEST ADVICE for converting the stock 350 to a 454....it has to be completely reworked anyway. WHY NOT bump up the power, fun, and excitement

What outdrive do you have? If the Alpha its top HP rating is 300 HP. The 454 is heavier, forward motor mounts need to move, need to verify if there is room for increase in height. Another option is a 383 ( stroked 350). Are you looking to buy or build this engine?

Bravo 3.....

At this point, TBH, the boat is going to be just a fixture there at the Lake......and I am stuck with keeping it there. So, I am going to go ahead and update and upgrade for the long term.

I APPRECIATE the response!

Got ya, you may want to consider a 8.1 which replaced the 454 long ago however I don’t think Mercruiser is offering it anymore either. Of course if you plan to build an engine you could go either way.

A 350 MPI or 6.2 is all you will need.
454 way to much motor for your boat.
My thoughts.
Plus your Mileage will be brutal.
I assume you have a Non 350 MPI motor now.

Agreed.

Mercruiser 6.2L 300: 300HP (933lbs)
Mercruiser 6.2L 350: 350HP (933lbs)

Mercruiser 454: 330-340 (980lbs)

The 6.2L should be a drop in replacement for the 350. With a BIII on there already, that is the way I would go. Much simpler installation.
