Exclamation Maxum 2400 SCR in Croatia

Hello everybody.

First, a brief introduction.
My name is Ivan and I live in Croatia, I just bought my first boat.
This is a Maxum 2400 SCR'98 equipped with Mercruiser 4.3 EFI and Bravo 2.

The previous owner ended the season in September 2022 and the boat was in drydock storage. I bought the boat on July 1st and the same day the boat was thrown into the Adriatic Sea.

The boat has 1863 hours, if the registrar is right. :chill:

What was fixed:
1. All rocker switches.
2. Fresh water pump.
3. All fuses.

There are also a few issues that need to be fixed.
1. Dashboard, I'm not sure, if I brush the aluminum panel and glue the woodgrain vinyl, will it work well or just a few days in the sun will break it?
2. Broken shower faucet - easy to fix
3. I need to find a shower drain, all the available items are smaller than my hole, can someone suggest?
4. The head unit does not work, I don’t know why, the kingston is open, but there is no water.
5. I have a water heater, but when I open the hot valve, there is no water. Should water flow from a hot faucet?
6. I want to unfold the captain's seat, but I can't, what needs to be fixed?
7. Unknown pump. Does anyone know?
8. I want to replace all gouges, which one should I use?

9. And the main question: why is the boat tilted to port? I have half fuel, a full tank of water and two batteries on the port side, but it's not heavy, as for me. The bilge is dry, not completely dry, maybe two cups of water in it. Why is the boat heeling?

Thanks in advance.
Ivan

1. No solution other than replace the panels.
2.yup.
3. RV shop.
4. Bad duck valve.
5. Yes water should flow. Verify no one installed a shut off valve. Is the water heater plumbed to the engine to heat the water or just wired for shore power?
6. Can’t answer without seeing it.
7. Trace the hoses, looks like either a wash down pump,...
8. Not sure what’s available in your part of the word but gauges are pretty standard.
9. Water is 8 lbs per gallon times 15 gallon tank plus 6 gallons in the water heater. That’s close to 100 lbs when you add the batteries. Any other gear stored on the port side?

Thank you, Mike.

1. I am not ready to pay $400 for set of panels. Need to find a cheapest solution.
3. All local shops have no this "big" drainer.
5. Just wired to the shore power. After some adjustments I have hot water in both showers, kitchen still without hot water. I assume the problem is in mixer.
7. You are right, another bilge pump.
8. Not sure, but resistance might be different.
9. I have shore power cable , extinguisher, medical equipment, survival plot, some hand tools on the port side.

Regarding #8 the resistance is determined by being a 12V system and sender resistance, so should be same as US.

#9, that doesn’t sounds like too much weight as long as it’s not all on the port side. How much tilt do you have and since the seating is on the starboard side does it level out with passengers?

I am not electrician but US and Europe has different standards.
https://kus-usa.com/resources/americ...signal-output/

My gauges are so old so I can`t read specification

I have never boating passenger with me and do not know how it affects a boat.
How much you can see on photo.

That is a fair amount. My 97’ sits level but my water tank is empty as I don’t use it.

Hello gents and ladies!

I just need your advise again, while I am still studying my boat.
Today I found a new devise in the motor compartment, and I do not know what it is, I assume it is a hydraulic part, but for what? Looks strange for me. Is it OK or not?

The second question I have is where can I place an additional deck cleats?
Red or blue?

The first picture is the Boatleveler brand trim tab pump. For some reason the plastic white reservoir has separated from the pump body. Also it’s low on fluid. I would think the area where you have red lines should be good and easier to access underneath over the blue lines.

The reservoir is installed in place, the liquid is added.
But there is an question, should trim tabs be controlled X-cross? I mean if I use starboard button, the port side trim is alive.
Two new cleats are installed and new mooring lines are connected.

Yes they are cross controlled. If you want the port side bow to go down the starboard tab needs to go down as the tabs are outward mounted the effect of them goes across the boats center line.

Last upd.

I have replaced original instrument panels, because they need to be restored. I used cheap solution - 3mm plexiglas and original gauges, looks better but not sexy.
Will change all gauges

Hello gents and ladies.

Another Q from my side.
When I use engine trim up button the indicator arrow does not fit the top position and I still hear trim works, when I use down button, the indicator arrow fits bottom position and stern drive stops moving down.
When I use trailer button, the sterndrive goes from the water and trim indicator fits top position.

Is it correct?

Not sure I’m totally following you. When triming up there is a trim limit switch that will prevent the drive from being trimmed out of the water at which point the pump should stop running. The trailer switch bypasses the limit switch and the drive will trim all the way up. Trimming down has no limit switch so it will trim to any position you want. The trim gauge shows the relative position. Note the trim position and limit senders are prone to failure due to their wires breaking. There are located on either side of the gimbal ring.

Bad trim limit sensors... replace them both.
