Default Gimble Mounted Transducer

Hi guys I have a 2005 Maxum 1800 SR3 with a pristine transom and I didn't want to drill any holes in it so I decided to make my own bracket out of aluminum and mount my new transducer to the bottom of the gimble housing right in front of the drain plug using the existing bolts that hold the zink anode to the gimbal housing. It's dead center of the hull, nice and solid, clears the outdrive in "full-down" position and I still have plenty of room to feed the oil drain hose out of the bilge drain hole. I haven't had a chance to test it yet but I wanted to get your opinions before permanently running the wires.

That’s a nice clean installation. I’ll be interested in hearing if there are any issues with the transducer loosing bottom or this location causing cavitation for the prop.

Thanks MMWJR,

Yes, cavitation is my main concern. Unfortunately with my swim grid it'll be nearly
impossible to see what's going on down there no matter where I mount my transducer.

I guess I'll have to keep an eye on my prop for any sings of pitting. I've never dealt with cavitation issues before and I've only had this boat out a handful of times so I don't have much of a baseline as to how it performs. Do you think it'll be very noticeable as far as vibrations, power loss, or fuel consumption?

Only way to tell is to try it and monitor the prop as well as watch to see if you get any prop blow out mainly in turns.
