Default Watermain to thermostat housing question

Quick question.. I have the outdrive leg off. If I plumbed the garden hose directly into the thermostat housing and did a test run, do you think it would cause any issues?

No risk of impeller damage ask the leg is off.. I guess the pressure would be ok provided I ran the engine is quick sucession when turning the hose on?

Thanks :-)

MMMmmmm Might be answering my own question here but I think there might be cooling for the powersteering or something behind the engine Im not seeing.. Does that need to be cooled when testing? Im not going to steer the wheel.. Its just to bring the engine up to temperature and rule out a manifold problem.

I did see a video or picture of a guy retrofitting a wooden board with the hose and putting it into the back of the gimbal housing water intake.. Anyone done something similar or have some suggestions?

Thanks

You should be able to operate with the hose directly attached to the thermostat housing inlet. The PS fluid still heats up as the pump is always circulating the fluid but for this short period it shouldn’t be a problem.

Learned a lesson here... The flush muffs or cups suck! The entire time I thought I had a manifold overheating issue on the starboard side.. Turned out to be a lack of water pressure from the mains hose. Get yourself a plastic barrel and build a mini bath of water.. MUCH better !

Keep a bucket of water handy in case you need to run it for longer using the barrel.
