Install new trim wires without removing outdrive

Has anyone installed new trim wires on a alpha 1 gen 2 without removing the outdrive. Was it very difficult to remove the 2 bolts at the transom with the outdrive still on.

I’ve always waited to do this job when I’m doing a bellows replacement. Just removing the drive doesn’t help you need to remove the bellhousing to gain access.

Yes I agree with you on that but there are some you tubes showing that you can replace it without removing the bell housing. That is what I meant sorry for saying the outdrive.

Just curious if anyone here did the replacement without removing the bellhousing

You’ll need a universal socket to get in at that angle to remove/install the clamping bolt.

I had it done a couple of weeks ago.
The mobile mechanic took 3 or 4 hours.
He needed a flexible socket spanner.
He told me he watched how to do it on YouTube.
All good now.
