Default B Terminal Fuse.

I lost power to the motor of my 1993 2200sc this weekend.
After being towed in, I got the multi meter out and started back tracking from the battery.

I have checked the multi pin plug and it looks in order. Though I don't know how to really test it.
12 volts at the starter motor, but nothing at the ignition.
I checked the B terminal 15 amp fuse and found it had blown.

Replaced it and everything worked for 15 seconds. Replaced it again and it run for about 30 seconds.

I noticed the volt meter fluctuating wildly between 0 and 13 volts.

My thoughts were the alternator. I didn't get a chance to test it, but a visual inspection showed very poor connections.

I have pulled the ignition barrel out and I am going to replace it out of due diligence.

Any advice would appreciated.

What is the condition of the voltage of the power at the fuse box? Should be main red wire that provides power to the box. Does the fuse blow if you donít start the engine?

Thanks for your reply.
Voltage is 12 volts at the fuse box.
The fuse only blew when the motor was running.
This morning with a clear head I changed a poor connection on the alternator.

Motor sprung to life, but I couldn't turn it off. I even pulled the fuse that was blowing. It just kept on running. I disconnected the fuel and waited for it to stop.
The volt meter was a stable 13 volts, no fluctuations.
Double checked everything and started it again.
Had to disconnect the fuel again.
Not frustrated yet, but very confused.

What wires did you remove from the alternator? Seems like you have one in the wrong place.

Thanks for your reply.
I only disconnected one lead and replaced the terminal.
I have a new key barrel coming on Tuesday.
Fingers crossed.
