Default Fuel Issue?

I have a 2007 Maxim 2400SE that feels like it is struggling to get fuel. I push the throttle down and it gets to about 3000 rpm’s @ 9.0 kts then starts losing throttle on its own. I am also smelling gas at the helm. Sometimes at the same amount of throttle I feel it accelerate and/or decelerate.

Changed oil, plugs, wires, distributor, filled with fresh gas, replaced fuel filter, added seafoam, and cleaned vent line (not clogged).

Any thoughts? Thank you in advance!

You can check the fuel pressure on the rail, see the Mercruiser manual for your engine under Documents. You may also want to have the ECM codes read by a mechanic or someone with a Rinda tool.

Is the boat kept in the water? If so are you certain there isn’t marine growth on the bottom?

I would not use it until you find the problem.
Smelling gas is not something you want when starting the boat.
I have never smelled gas on my 5.0 MPi motor.
