Default Broken Antenna Mount Problem

Hi All,
The boat is a 1992 Maxum 2300SCR - problem I am having is in the removal of the antenna mount. Current one is/was broken off at purchase and I have a new one to replace it. I would of liked it if the two models were compatable but they are not so I am trying to take the 4 screws out. The screws appear to be slipping in the back. the only way, as I see it, to get inside to the back of the plate is to remove the rear speaker that is almost directly behind the antenna mount area.
Is this correct?
The speaker is in pretty tight as well and I do not see a place that "pops" the speaker cover off so I can pop out the speaker.
Any advise on the path to go would be great. If need be I will buy another antenna mount (the correct one-which would require the base to stay but and replace the adjustable arm) and take the easy path. I thought this was going to be 4 screws on/off but does not appear so.
Thanks
Scott

there are backing washers and nylock nuts back behind the speaker...pop the cover off the speaker or if yours is like mine..there are 4 screws holding the speaker on...remove the speakers and that should give access with a box wrench to pull the 4 screws....

then tape the old antenna wire to the new one and pull the new one to the radio....

hope this helps....
