Port side aft bench seat hinge 3200 SCR

Anyone come up with a better design than these plastic hinges? My "guest" broke immediately. I am installing t-nuts inside the seat material to remedy the short wood screws from stripping out of the plywood.

I found a cooler that fits perfectly under the seat. It is a poor design.
