Default 2005 3100 SE Engine Coupler

I have 2005 3100SE. Apparently the port engine engine coupler is gone. I gert no thrust form the port engine. I an going to have the local mercury dealer replace it for me. They tell me they need to remove the generator and both engines to get this done. They said this was worse case and maybe they will not have to do that. Does anyone know what it actually takes to replace the engine coupler on the port engine? Thanks, Dave

I know that the port engine needs to come out in order to replace the coupler. What else may need to be removed to get the engine out I cannot say not being familiar with this model.
