Default oxidized gel coat

Just purchased a 2000 2300 SC that has a slightly chaulky surface . Not bad , however it does show on the purple sides somewhat . I hear everything from wet sanding to paint . What's good for a first try at getting it lightened up ?

well...there's a few things to try first before repainting......
1) I'd get some fine rubbing compound and rub out the areas..then apply polish.....
2)get a combination compound polish...3m makes a good one...
3)bout the best stuff I've ever used is called "seapower" ...it's a combination polish and cleaner that has worked really well for me for the past 10 yrs....
sometimes you need to apply it twice but it does work.....you can use a buffer to help with the wax on/wax off.....just rub it in and then use a towel to get it off..

:arr arr

Try the yellow pages for detailing companys. You will know what Im talking about when your finished and won't do it again.

1. rubbing compound $2.50
(use very little and work small areas at a time thoroughly)
2. 10" eletric buffer $30.00
3. shop towels
4. wash well to remove excess residue
5. meguires wax to seal $9.00

I spent 8+ hours just buffing with the rubbing compound, locally I found out the detail shop will do it for about $60 and waxing is much less work if you want to save that part of it.
