Default Engine Choice

I’m needing to purchase a motor for My ‘99 2700SCR. It originally had a 5.7, but I’m considering installing a 7.4.
My question is: does the age of the motor really matter if I intend on rebuilding it? (If it needs rebuilt).

Have you considered either a 383 (stroked 350) or a LS 6.2? These would be easier swaps. In the case of the 454 are you looking to get a complete marine version so that you would have all the necessary bolt ons?

I have considered an LS 6.2. But, I’m curious why they would be an easier swap.
Yes, I would prefer a Marine version of the 454, (if that’s the engine I decide on).

The LS is basically the same footprint as the existing 5.7.
