Fuel level sender replacement - Sic Divisione Elettronica - Maxum Boat Owners Club

Hi Maxum people,

Hope you are all safe and getting boat ready for the season.

My fuel gauge/sender isn't working on my 2001- Maxum 1800SR. The gauge is newer and looks like it has been replaced 3-4 years ago by the previous owner.
I'm going to take a stab at replacing the fuel sender first.

My boat is in storage and I dont have access to it yet.. I took a picture of the tank + fuel sender.. It appears to be a Sic Divisone Elettronica s.r.l. made in Italy.. https://sic.navy/en/prodotto/level-sensor-std-240-33/

Does anyone know where I can get one of these.. and what size I might need? It's a 113L (30 gallon) tank.. Additionally how do you know if you need an american one or European? I think the boat is an import from the US.

Does the fuel gauge show in liters or gallons? If liters you would need the European sender.

Not sure it matters as the gauge is calibrated to a minimum and maximum resistance for empty and full.

I remember reading somewhere(?) that some US and European fuel gauges are interchangeable but the wiring at gauge or sender has to be reversed. (reversed polarity). Maybe someone more knowledgeable can verify.

I would think being part of the 12VDC system they would be the same.

That pic looks like a Faria Kronos gauge (F19001). If so, Trey is correct, the gauge is universal and depends on the sender to send the proper signal to match the wiring of the boat. In a std 12V negative ground system (American) the sender would have an ohm range of 240-33. European senders would have a range of 10-180.

My bet would be that it’s a standard US/American unit, just made by an Italian company.
