Thanks for your kindness.
Over the winter, we are getting ready to install a new sound system with sub up top.
We're going to be installing a flat screen in the aft birth with X-box for the kidz.
Installing a new small flat screen in the galley to replace the old CRT style TV.
Then a flat screen up top off the radar arch.
Also exploring replacing the old style black and white GPS with a newer color plot charter, etc etc.
Each one of these projects calls for a good bit of research on my part so that I get it right. Life is never easy, guess I cant comlain, LOL
see ya, Mike and Lara

1900 SR with a 4.3l
Hi all, another newbie to this forum and Maxum boats, but not new to boating. My last boat was a 1960 MFG lapstreak with a 70 Johnson. Boat's been in the family for decades. The old boat just sat, as it's just too small for a grown up family.
The boat I bought last summer is a 1998 1900SR with the 4.3L. Huge improvement, as you can imagine. This Maxum was well kept but unknown hours. Third owner. Still trying to figure out the little details, such as if I should upgrade the prop. I did get to 51 MPH (GPS) with a WOT of 4600 and 4 people in the boat. It's mostly for skiiing and tubing.
Glad to be part of this crew!
Joe

WELCOME TO THE ZOO!!!
sounds like your right up there in the WOT range...I'd not mess with the prop setting as your hitting 51 mph is pretty good....
post some pic's...post often ...newbie buys the BEER!!....

Thanks for the welcome. I hope to enjoy the boat for a good while. I WILL post pictures when I take them. Beers on me... on Lake Anna in Virginia. :-)
Had minor deck repair over the winter (soft right in front of the engine- stringers were fine), and had the outdrive checked. Found a slight -hard to see- warble in the drive shaft. lower gear oil is free of water, so while imperfect, it will need replacing.
As for a new prop, the last time out last October, we hit a log (i guess). Very slow (idle) speed, dinged near the root of the prop. With little marks all around the AL prop from lots of use, it'd be smart to replace. It's a quicksilver 1920P23... Does that sound like stock? Maybe even original? I've spent hours online researching props. Seems more like voodoo and trial and error to get the 'right prop'.

joe...you really don't want to let that shaft go for long...it will destroy the seal......and quicksilver is the stock props...however take that one off and to a local prop shop..they can recondition the prop..for alot less than a new prop..

Welcome aboard Joe. Seapuppy is spot on regarding your prop size - the one you have sounds just right. Also agree with the shaft, don't want that seal to go at the worst possible time.
Notice you're in Stafford. Wife and I keep our 2400 SC3 at a marina in Woodbridge and spent last season boating on the Potomac exclusively. If you keep yours at home you can still honor your newbie beer requirements by dropping that boat in the river and letting us know where to find you. LOL
Enjoy the boat and the fun...
Dan

Hi everyone, just purchased a 2001 2400 SCR with a 5.7mpi and B3. It needed some TLC (minor log damage repair below waterline, bottom paint, davits and macerator) before we pick it up (tomorrow). We moor it at Skyline Marina (freshwater) in Richmond BC (near Vancouver Airport). I'll post some pics after we actually get the keys. We used to own a Larson cabrio 254 but sold it before we relocated to Vancouver as we could not get moorage. I have had my eye on the Maxum's for years and always admired them, I am looking forward to many relaxing weekends (and Gulf Island vacations) on this boat. My biggest challend right now is figuring how to store my 3hp yamaha dinghy motor while underway. I snoozed on an Adventure Marine swivel mount on e-bay for $150. Does anyone have any other ways they store their ob?
Mike

Hey everyone, my name is Juan, from AlbuqCRAZY NM. I recently purchased a Maxum 1800MX. She looks in very good condition. We've always used my brother boat to go play but it was time to get our own. He has a 2004 Four Winns which is huge compared to mine but at least I have one now. Going to take her out on the water tomorrow to see what she can do. Glad to be here, I have lot of questions about maintenance and accessories for her as well as trying to locate a user/owners/maintenance manual for it.

Hello boaters.
I Camptoboat would like to introduce myself Gary and wife Hazel.
As my handle says we pull the boat behind the truck camper and off to lake or resort. Just returned form a week at Mardon Resort on Potholes Reservoir. Had a great week of fun.
Does anyone get together as a boating group?
Gary
