Default Just bought 07 Maxum 1800 MX

Hello, new owner of an 07 Maxum MX with Mercruiser 3.0L and love it so far but have not yet taken it out to lake. Its been raining every day after i bought it. Ugh! Will mostly be used to pull my kids (and their friends) around lake here in Florida and an occasional cruise down river w family. Looking forward to getting out on water. Had owned a fish/ski boat with OB motor few yrs back and worried about owning an IO. Hoping its not a problem like iv heard stories about.

Welcome aboard.

Like an OB there is a water pump impeller that needs to be replaced every two years. Also inspect the bellows for cracks and replace to prevent bigger issues.

Thank you! Had boat out for the second time sence owning it and alt belt broke. I heard it squealing but it would go away after warming up. Knew id have to replace it soon but it went out today. Found some good videos so shouldn't be too hard to replace. Had to limp back to boat ramp without motor overheating. The bellows thing you mentioned looks like a bear to replace but mine looks good so far. What should i look for when its time? Im guessing water leaking from the ribbed hose?

Waiting to the bellows are leaking only leads to more damage of other components. If you can see cracking between the folds it's time. These will look like cracks you see in clay but will not be all the way through the rubber.
