Blowers are for venting any gas fumes which could cause an explosion or fire. Since gas fumes are heavier than air the tubes are at the lowest points in bilge so as to pull all fumes from bilge area. Turning on blowers 3 to 5 minutes before starting is plenty of time. If there are any gas fumes then the smart thing to do would be to find out where and why they got there.

Hi Donald the 2400 has the blower exhaust as well as bilge air intake both at the back of the boat. IMO not a good design as the fresh air intakes should be on the sides and forward of the exhaust.
