Mystik 25w40 vs Quicksilver Engine Oil - that is

Wondering if anyone out there has switched from price heavy Quicksilver to Mystik? Or, if one should? (2000 2800scr with 7.4 mpi).

Anyone know about Gateway connectors for Mercruiser?

Hello all you knowledgeable boaters out there. I’ve a question for you please:
Does anyone know about gateway connectors that can hook-up a Garmin chart plotter to a 2000 mercruiser 7.4 MPI (454ci)?...

I need another transducer - suggestions please?

My 2000 2800scr lost its transducer - broke-off because something impacted it. The wire is just dangling there. It was hooked to the factory gauge on the helm and worked fine. My understanding is...

Impressive response (graph and all) - thank you kindly! Here in Southern Ontario, I just payed $2.60 per litre of gas. My tank holds 380 litres (about 100 US gallons). That’s just short of $1000 for...

Thanks yahoo82,
It seems that the 454 (7.4mpi) is plenty big enough of an engine. It’s a stock bravo 3 prop and like I said, it comes up on plane without much effort. I wonder though if maintaining...

Planing my 2000 2800scr

Got a question for someone out there:
On a full tank of gas and load for bear, my single engine 28’ 7.4 mpi comes up on plane no problem. Normally, I keep the tabs all the way down along with the...

No IAC filter for this model (2000 7.4 mpi)

Thanks for the suggestion but put a new IAC sensor - and it appears that it needed one (old one was stuck open).
Taking a closer look at the ignition wires, the ohms of resistance are a little high...

The manual is rather vague

I’m now down to the MAP sensor and or TPS.
It’s almost worth investing in electronic diagnostic tools - that my marina mechanic does not have either.

Replaced the IAC - that definitely needed replacing - the old one seemed stuck in the outward position. When it started, it raved higher - the way its suppose to.
However,
This did not solve the...

Hard starting 7.4 mpi - any suggestions please?

Hello,
It’s in a 2000 2800 Maxum Bravo 3 with a single 7.4 (454) mpi
De-winterized start was difficult. Seemed to run okay in the fall - but had to crank more than I thought was necessary.
After a...

Will VesselView mobile work for a 2000 2800scr

I have a 2000 2800scr with a single 7.4 MPI and have been hearing great things about VesselView Mobile. I’d like to be able to use it on my boat but the compatibility stats published by Mercruiser do...

2800scr with three batteries for a two bank charger conundrum

Hello Maxum brethren,
I'm too cheap and lazy to buy a three bank charger - but maybe I should? Here's the issue:
I'm often on the hook for over-nighters on the bay (in the summer that is - water's...

Good winter/spring project (cable batteries from port to starboard). The list has been bugging me since purchasing the boat in 2018. It was amplified when I added the extra house battery - those 27’s...

With one big battery for the engine plus 2 for the house. The...

20 gallons per hour

The 2800scr uses about 20 gals per hour closer to 4000 rpm. Maybe 18 at 3700 - 3800rpm. Calculating mileage is an art in itself. The gas gauge on the boat, I believe, is meant to be read while under...

I’m a very late with this post so I apologize. You’ve probably moved on etc. I have a 2000 2800scr with a single 7.4 mercruiser. It comes up on plane without any issues. The 454 is a brute of an...

Sound advise

I do use the 1/3 rule. My chart plotter also calculates fuel burned - so between manual calculations, the plotter and gas gauge, I have a pretty good idea.
Unfortunately, the 2800scr has only a 100...

Thanks shrew,
I think that the engineers intended the gas gauge to be read while underway - for practical reasons. I found that at my slip, the gauge read 1/4 when there is actually about 1/2 tank...

2800scr gas gauge?

Hello,
Got a question to you learned Maxum veterans. On plane my gas gas seems to read more accurately than sitting at the slip (which happens to read lower fuel).
Did the Maxum engineers, decide...

Thanks shrew. The earlier bravo 3’s are known for corrosion problems and I wish to mitigate it on my drive as much as possible.
