Thumbs up Powering up

I own a 2700 maxum and looking to add power. Not a prop tweek, but rather some serious HP to my merc 5l. I’ve been shopping super chargers. Any advice out there?

Repower with a larger displacement engine is your only real option.
Most of the mods you will find for 5.0 are for automotive applications are not truely suited or match marine requirements. Torque is what we need in boating applications not so much HP. Cheapest way to get there is to add displacement.

A 2700 is a cruiser not a go boat. A nice 383 or 496 will be a great upgrade for this boat.

go with the 496, no replacement for displacement!
If that doesn't work try nitrous.

Being serious though I am curious to find out what you decide. I have wondered a bit about this as well. Mike and Jparsons bring up good points. I know there are power mods available out there, but I have never known anyone personally who did it on a cabin cruiser. Sounds fun, but then it makes me think there is a reason why it hasn't been done

You'd be better off buying the boat you want, rather than trying to make this boat something it's not. Plenty of fast cruising boats. Formula PC Cruiser. Fountain makes a performance cruiser as well. You're going to spend a lot of cash turning a station wagon into a race car.
