Default Cracked Transom door 3700 SCR

Among the other projects that I need to complete on my recently purchased 3700 is a crack at the top of my transom door. Has anyone else run into this? How tough will this be to repair?

This must be a common issue, mine has a small crack too. I filled it with a white silicon to keep moisture out for now

I had the same problem on a anchor locker hatch. I brought it to fiberglass guy. He opened the entire thing, replaced the wood core with structural foam, then re-glassed the entire thing. It was a few hundred bucks.

I wouldn't use silicone anywhere on a boat. 3M 4000 would be a better solution if you wanted to use a caulk. However, in such a high visibility area, that would not be aesthetically pleasing.

I have the same issue with my door (98 3700SCR). Some really good videos on YouTube on how to DIY. I dremeled out the cracks, cleaned it and used TOTALBOAT flexible epoxy to repair. Solid. Sanded the whole door and now will go over everything with a two part topside coating close to the original now-faded Dream White color.
Or take it to a fiberglass guy...

In the process of buying a 2001 4600 and the door is cracked all the way around. I'll probably chuck the door and have a solid piece (1" if possible) of clear plexiglass put on. I've seen some boat with this and even engraved.
