Default Windshield support, 1800mx

Apparently, my GPS mount that attaches to the windshield support caused the support to fail prematurely and I need a new one but unfortunately, I'm away from home (where the boat is) for the next couple days and can't measure the length of the support. Can someone with an 1800MX measure the length of the starboard (helm) side windshield support for me?

Thanks.

I would but I've got a 1900SR. On a similar note I just put a humminbird 898 on the same support, and to be honest it does not look too sturdy. I think i might be moving it after hearing about this.

This is my 4th season with the GPSMap440s hanging on that support and it's been fine until now. It's definitely back to the drawing board on my mount tho. I may keep it there temporarily until I come up with something else, but that's far from a long term solution. I'm thinking it may end up on top of the dash since I never look thru the windshield.

I just really don't want to drill into my dash area. Putting holes in the transom for my transducer was hard enough. Let me know what you come up with.

I'm going to look at it tonight. I'm definitely not opposed to drilling into the dash as I've got two holes for the VHF radio mount and 5 for the fire extinguisher that hangs by my left leg. Originally, I was worried about it blocking my vision thru the windshield which is one major reason I didn't mount it on the dash. Assuming there's room, that's probably the way I'll go but I will definitely post whatever I go with.
