Swim platform and windlass 2400 SCR

I installed a new swim platform from swimplatforms.com and a Lewmar v700 windlass today. The swim platform took me and my brother 4 hours to complete. I still need to run the wires(the boat is a 2000 so it isn't pre-wired) for the windlass, but it took me about 20 minutes to get up the GUTS to run a 4 1/2" hole saw through the deck... But it fits and looks beautiful... Can't wait to wire it up and launch it in about 2 weeks!!!

You and your brother did a nice job. The swimplatfrom is a great feature, not sure why Maxum did not offer it as an option.

Does Lewmar say it's ok to hold the weight of the boat on the windlasses gypsie? Traditionally, you had to take the pressure off of the windlass by using a cleat or a sampson post. You might want to double check with Lewmar. I'd still want an anchor cleat up there somewhere.

I actually just purchased 2 cleats... Going to install them where the line chocks are now.

Thanks for sharing, looks great, very professionally done! I have the very same boat and considering to install windlass also, I also installed the swimplatform and really happy with it. When you mentioned at the very beginning that your boat is not pre-wired for windlass, does it mean no wire in anchor line compartment at all? because on my boat, I see two big wires (red and black) inside the anchor line compartment, assuming those wires are for windlass. Where did you get that plate where the new cleat is on now? I just want to confirm, to know how ready my boat is for this kind of project, maybe others may chime in too. Thanks...

I didn't have any wires in my anchor locker... Had to run them All the way to the batteries. If you're boat is prewired, half the job is done!! I made that plate from a piece of 3/8" thick King Starboard... I wanted something to cover the old hawsepipe hole and to protect the boat from the anchor chain.

Which weight Delta is that? Does the stock roller launch and recover easily?

Also how much rode do you have? I have 400 ft of line and 30 ft of chain, but I'm considering going with 100ft of chain and 200 ft or so of line but not sure how mush will fit in the locker and still "spool" in without getting in the way of the windlass

Not sure where you anchor but that's a lot of chain for a 24 footer. Will also make the bow heavy.

That was a 22lb Delta and I had 200' rode and 20' chain and it sometimes help spooling/fitting.... There really isn't on much room in the anchor locker!
