No reason I can think of. Some pumps are pressure adjustable, too. If you can locate one of those you can set the max pressure to whatever you like.

We also boat on Flaming Gorge! We are in Utah. Our '98 2300 SR (open bow) runs at 46 mpg at the Gorge. The 7.4 EFI motor is a beast. On Powell or Mead it'll do a bit better.

I'm sure that was a Maxum item, not the stereo manufacturer's. I have the identical cover. If you're at all handy you might could fabricate one out of plexiglass. Not sure how you would hinge it but...

An additional thing to do is remove the hinges from the engine cover. That way you can open the cover then set it out of the way when working. Best thing I EVER did on my boat!!

Those are all plastic threaded fittings. Very easy fix if you get a replacement elbow. PEX fittings are easy to find.
