Cool

RG 8962;
Your confirmation of the loud, growling noise on a hard turn is welcome news... because I don't have that!!! I'm convinced this is a steering issue, I'll check back in here at the Forum to post an update when I pull Endless Summer out of storage in a few weeks... thanks again.

So much for my hope of this "loose outdrive" being a steering rod/cable assembly! Got it confirmed from a reputable marine guy (H & S Marine in North Spokane) yesterday that indeed the gimbal ring/pin is shot. Preliminary parts cost is almost $1,400, labor another grand it looks like. I think I've found the parts for a little less than $1,000, but nonetheless this will be a $2K+ repair it appears. Bail Out Another Thousand!

Yeah that sucks. I just put a brand new transom assembly in. Replaced the whole thing for:
Labor Total : 1,043.00
Parts Total : 2,765.46

Good luck to you!
