are you talking about the transducer in the engine bay??....yours will be about under the engine on the stbd side...when it says you have 2 ft...that probably includes the offset....where the keel is...

it's possible ..you just have to make sure your engine thermostat housing is above the water line...which I'm pretty sure it is.....
the plugs should be opened with the engine NOT...

your going to have to clean that sand out ..plus it probably chewed up your raw water impeller a bit....so...I'd look at removing the lower unit and replacing the impeller and cleaning out...
