OK, Since it wasn't stated, I assumed gas engines. I recant my statement. I have no idea what RPM range should be for Cummins diesel in that model.

Honestly, that doesn't sound completely abnormal for a large boat coming on plane. I wouldn't expect any boat of that size to get up on plane until the mid 3,000's. Just pushing throttles forward...
