The reason I'm asking is that I just bought this boat but pretty sure there is no depth on the old GPS unit mounted at helm. And I can't seem to get charts working there...

cored hull / in-hull transducer placement?

Does anyone know if the 1996 Maxum 2400 SCR has a cored hull or can I basically install an in-hull transducer anywhere that will remain below waterline?
