Shrew, thank you. I didn't think about removing the bulkhead. Was thinking about a couple of extensions on a socket, but that won't work as you need to put washers on the bolts. Your solution...

I agree with racer, bow down too far in heavy chop can be very dangerous, especially at speed. Sounds like you could use a little bigger tab, just be careful and don't go too crazy with it.
