It's actually more metal then the other bolt has....

It's actually more metal then the other bolt has. The bolts don't go all the in . When I grinded it.. there was about an inch from the top of the bolt to the top of hole.

I'm completely sure...

For anyone that has this issue.. I used a angle grinder and shaved about a 1/4 inch off and the bolt was exposed. Took a very long 3/8 drill bit and drilled out the broken bolts . Then got 5in bolts...

I talked to a boat guy and he said .. gotta pull the engine mounts.. and jack up the motor.. to drill it to pull it out.

I would but the bolt screws up into the block...

I would but the bolt screws up into the block from the bottom. Poor engineering . Trying not to pull the motor over a bolt

I have a 3.0 mercruiser and the bolt for the starter broke off.. About half the bolt is still in the block.. anyone know a trick to get under there and get the piece of bolt out? It's underneath .

i bought 3 so far and there all 160 even though they say 142

just an update. replaced the manifold and...

replaced the manifold and riser.
its back to running at the correct temp.

after more troubleshooting.. i found out there is no water coming from the impeller.
is it possible the shaft that spins it has an issue?
is there a way to test that?

so i pulled the elbow and it doesnt look too bad....

so i pulled the elbow and it doesnt look too bad.
i ran water through the manifold and its flowing good. doesnt look obstructed at all.
the elbow could be obstructed but i cant flow test it other...

looks like almost all the water is coming out of the prop.

any ideas why? or where to start looking?

so i pulled the the lower off to replace the impeller and when i raised up the drive i noticed gear oil dripping out of here.

anyone know why its doing that?

hey,
im trying to replace the thermostat cause it started to run at 175F but i am seeing different things as to temp.

im reading some say 140F for salt water and 160F for fresh water.
