Re: Car Amp?

Cool, thanks! Any ideas on making an enclosure for speakers? I have a couple subs that were in my car, was thinking about taking one and putting it in my boat maybe. However, finding boat speaker...

I have a car amp out of my old car, a clarion APX400.4 (400W x 4Ch), and was curious if anyone had tried running a car amp in a boat, freshwater boat. I would assume if installed in a fairly dry...

Re: Engine rough start

Hmm, cool, I'll give that a try. The guy I bought the boat from told me to start the boat by putting the throttle in neutral pushing it forward until you get a little bite and then crank it, with the...

Re: 35 amp inlet breaker

Depends, to ere on the side of caution you can do a 30 amp and overprotect the circuit, but if you have a constant draw of over 80% of 30 amps (24A or 288watts @ 12vdc) then you are going to trip the...

Re: Bilge Pump Question

Awesome, thanks guys. I'll try to do that tonight, hoping to take it out this weekend and want to make sure that it is all working, though I haven't had any problems (yet) with taking on water.

Distributor Question

I was poking around this evening looking for the bilge pump, found someone cut the wire to it, and noticed that the distributor appears to have two wires hanging off the side. The wires have covered...

Re: Depth/Fish Finder Problem

Yea, thats what I was thinking initially but I think I tried it with all switches turned on. I'll double check though. I read something about burning them up if they run without a load? Should I not...

Re: Depth/Fish Finder Problem

Cool, I found that one on Amazon for $160, $175 and I can have it by Friday and that'd give me a day or two to install it before I go out again. How involved is it to install one, the electrical...

Re: Depth/Fish Finder Problem

Cool, I'll check those as well, the ground seemed ok but of course it pulled out of the connector so it may not have had a good ground. Any suggestions on what I should get to replace it? I have been...

Re: New user, new boater, with some questions

Haha, very well could be. The guy I bought it from said XR, but he may have been confused as well. The title doesn't specify that much but its definitely an I/O with 3.0L Alpha I. The title specifies...

Depth/Fish Finder Problem

I just picked up a used boat with a Humminbird Wide Eye (Depth & Fish finder I believe) and it won't power on. I assume that the unit is probably broken, but I figured I'd post to see if anyone had...

Re: boating in the dark Q's?

No problem. I am a new boater too, don't know that I am brave enough to go out in the dark yet though. Make sure you have a functional depth finder too, it can be helpful so you don't run aground....

Re: New user, new boater, with some questions

Spoke with a mechanic today and said that I should probably be ok for now replacing the exhaust bellows since it is easy to get to. So I have ordered all the necessities to install it, probably have...

Re: boating in the dark Q's?

Planning to go out on the fourth to try to catch some fireworks? Definitely a concern of mine as well. All boats should have their port/starboard and stern lights which should be visible from 1-2...

Re: New user, new boater, with some questions

Cool, I found the part. There are just two marine stainless steel clamps on this one that are bolt/flat head adjusted. Looks like glue is optional but the contact cement is pretty cheap, so I see no...

Re: New user, new boater, with some questions

I guess I should have been a little more clear, the hose is 4" in diameter, roughly. I just took it off and am going to see if I can pick up a replacement somewhere locally. The hose is about 12"...
