I haven't located the Maxum manual yet, although I know we have one somewhere. I did find the mercruiser manual that came with the boat. Is yours I\O Mercruiser?

I definitely want to restore ours. I just can't seem to want to take it off the water for that long. LOL I hope when you get yours going, that it will be as dependible as ours...

Hi, we have a 1988 Maxum 17 ft boat also. It is an inboard outboard 3.0 Mercruiser, but we do still have all of the original paperwork if I can help you.
