Default 2003 Maxum 2400 SCR / Inverter / Polarity?

Hello,

I have a 2400 SCR that I just pulled out of storage. I was getting her ready to launch and plugged the shore power at my house and noticed a revers polarity. In addition to that I noticed around 60V ac on the inboard AC panel. I also verified this with a volt meter. I tested the electrical connection to the boat and everything checks out. I tested one of the 115vac outlets in the boat and the tester showed a open neutral. Nothing has changed since I last stored the boat.??? Is this an inverter issue? if so where is is located and how should I test it.

Thanks

MJ

I'm not an expert, but my understanding is the reverse polarity indicates an issue with the shore power. Did you check the circuits at the house to be sure they aren't reversed?

I've had the indicator go off when plugged into shore power in the shipyard, when all was fine on the dock. Turned out the outlet I was using was wired incorrectly.

Welcome aboard

There is no inverter in this circuit it’s a direct connection. I have gotten this same issue when I was at a marina and it always was a wiring issue with the marinas power. Hot/neutral reversed or missing neutral. As jr suggests check your home wiring.

Thanks folks

I'm going to try a neighbors house plug and see if the polarity light goes off.

You ca buy a polarity tester at most hardware stores, its good to have as you can ck the polarity whenever you plug into shore power.

Well - I found the problem... It was the extension cord I was using. BTW I've used this extension cord for years but never on the boat. I switched to my neighbors electrical outlet and had the same problem. Last thing to check was switching extension cords. That's when we found the swapped neutral.

Thanks for everyone's help
