Default Windshield mounting screws

Windshield is coming loose and I can see the screw but am not sure the best way to access it. I'll probably have to fill the hole and redrill but was hoping for some advice on how to best get at it. Please see pics. Thanks in advance.

I believe the screw can be accessed by removing the black band on the outside of the frame.

Don't try to fix the screw hole. Wasting time. Find 1"x1"x1/2" UHMW or some 1" round 1/2" thik. Make a 1/8 hole in the center and use that inside where the hole is damage. You may have to use a longer screw, but that would hold forever. Good luck.

Gugi47- thanks for the reply. I'm all about not wasting time so want to pursue your suggestion. Sorry for the dumb question but could you be more specific about the solution? First time boat owner here and haven't done anything like this before.
So I first remove the black rubber from the windshield to access the screw. Remove the screw and I'll likely find a stripped out hole in the fiberglass. Then what?

You make the The part I suggested and use it from inside like a backup plate. The screw will go truy the hole in to the UHMW, that's why I suggest to make 1/8 hole in it. I post some pictures for you. This is better than fixing the hole because the windshield have some weight and by jumping on waves will destroy it again. 1/2" thick UHMW will not. the pictures are for reference only.
Can be square to. OK? Good luck.

Thanks for clarifying. I have a block of UHMW but I've been trying for hours to figure out how to get to the space where I would place it. Take apart everything I can see and still cant get access. Thinking of drilling a new hole in the windshield frame into a space that I can access. See pics.

The first picture in you last replay. True that storage compartment can see it. Do you remove the old screw? Make a picture of the screw and posted. I have a suspicion.

Thanks so much For the quick reply last week. I've been out of town and just got back. OK I've uploaded some pics. There are 3 screws at play here and I've numbered them in the pics. Screw number 3 is not a problem because it comes through in the glove Box and I was able to replace it with a longer bolt, washer, nut. It screws number 1 and 2 that I can't access whatever space they go into. I threw away the screws I removed but I drew a picture of them. #1 was bent and #2 sheared off.

You have to do with # 1 and 2 to be like 3.
You may not see inside the end of them.
Remove what is broke and drill true the existing holes till you get inside of the compartment. Then use the size of the bolt what you have now on #3 (10/32 or 10/24 stainless steel) with flat washer. If you have any thread lock, I suggest to use on the screws. That will solve your problem. Good luck.
And if you need more help, you know what to do.

Thanks for your reply. But the problem is I cant access the "inside compartment" so I cannot put a washer or nut or UHMW or anything because I cannot get to that area, wherever it is.
So I think my only option is to fill the holes with gelcoat patch kit and drill new holes and then use new screws. Yes?

Ok. than do that. But move 1" away from the original holes.
