Default winch/windlass

found this anchor winch that my friend is using for his 27 foot much heavier boat and its working really well for under $200.

Measured it and it would fit perfectly in the anchor well in the front of my boat. Problem is I see no way of adding a pulpit to keep the anchor in place. I just feel like i cant bolt it from the bottom and when i pull anchor there will be too much pressure on it if i just bolt it on top.

Any ideas?

yeah..when you bolt it to the boat...make sure you use really wide stainless washers to spread the load or use a piece of stainless flat bar couple 3 or 4 inches wide...drill holes thru it to match the bolts coming thru the wench.....and that will spread the load thru and around the fiberglass..then use nylocks to secure it to the bolts.....

..by the way..your pic doesn't really show much in the way of what your talking about.....I see a nice boat...but not a wench...

Ha, i had to check
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=wench

Yah, thats where i figured ill put the winch, but what about a piece (i think its called a pulpit) that holds the anchor in place when its raised?

Do you think there's a way to fasten that piece securely enough with all the pressure that will be on it? Not feeling comfortable puting all that pressure on the fiberglass.

there are anchor rollers that can be directly bolted to the fiberglass...again use large stainless steel washers and nylocks....

that should do it...that's the way mine is mounted.....

seapuppy,
Could you post some pictures (up close and personal) so we can see how you mounted that anchor roller?
Thanks

well..I went to the boat and took some pic's of the winch and roller..but forgot to get pic's of the underside of the roller.....got the winch and switches.... ..ole timers kicked in or something...hemmingways....suffice it to say that the roller is mounted similar to the way the winch is....large bolts running thru the glass with large washers and nylocks.....check out the pic's in the album....here...

Thanks for the pics and info. Seapuppy.

I guess I had a senior moment and thought you had a 2300 sc like I do.
I would like to be able to install an anchor mount and roller but the configureation of the bow makes a strong mounting nearly impossible and have it still look good.
Pulling the anchor is a major pain in the but and Circus act when trying to avoid banging it against the hull.
I hope someone here is more creative than I am and can guide me in the right direction.

BM..the mounting should be similar to the way the anchor winch is mounted...stainless steel bolts..washers..nuts...and also large washers......really big washers to spread the load.....in the neighborhood of a couple of inches....

hope this helps..
