Default where do you keep your genny?

This goes out to everyone who has a portable generator on board. Where do you store it and where do you run it?

thanks

It really depends on the model of the boat.

I have a 2800 SCR. I run mine on the deck just in front of the windshield, with the exhaust aimed toward the side and back at a 45 degree angle. I close any portholes below and astern as well as the hatch just prior to it. I keep any portholes and hatches forward open. Carbon monoxide is heavier than air and will drop that takes care of taking over the side and down. The prevailing breeze carries it back.

I do close the windshield isinglass of the sides and front completely.

I see many people place them way out front on the bow or anchor pulpit. This would require that every single hatch and porthole be closed while its running. I prefer to keep air moving through the cabin.

I store it on deck and have a cover for it when on anchor or mooring. If I'm in the marina, I keep it at the helm.

I run mine on my back swim platform, I made a little bracket that holds it in place and I store it in the engine compartment where I made another bracket to hold it in place while underway.

If on the anchor run it on the swim deck. If beached place it ashore.

The next time I go down to the boat which will hopefully be this weekend I will.
All I did was took a Davit mount bracket attached one side on the swim platform up next to the stern so it was out of the way and I attached the other side to a Honda 2000w Generator. In the engine compartment I just too a couple of pieces of perforated angle made a base the size of the generator and attached it so it can swing up out of the way if you need to work on anything.

I used the Weaver Marine style mount, I picked them up for about $75.00
