Default Wet sanding

Greetings,

Well the last couple of weekends i have had a play in a test area on wet sanding. I first tried Abralon 2000 grit discs in my dual action polisher (DA) to very little efect. Today i got some cheap 1200 grit which is all thats available from our local auto store. The cut was a lot better and what 'felt' right, but caused some graining.

You can see the deeper lines here, is that because its a cheap paper, or because i didnt go over it with a finer grit?

It buffed out easy enough, i tried a wool pad but wasnt happy with the finish, so used a heavy cutting spounge pad which i was very happy with.

You can see the reflection of the garden hose to see the shine is there, but from the light soarce you can see a lot more refining is needed.

I have some 3M products im waiting to be delivered to fully refine the finish, just need to know whether i need to order some proper wet and dry. The pics have not really done justice to the shine, it really is mirror like, when i get the final result of 100% correction it will be like a sheet of glass.
