Hi muddy...welcome to the zoo...for most boats in the US..all you need to do is have the sink drain overboard....no need for a holding tank....

in Canadian lakes...I have no idea what they are required...but if it were me..I'd tie a tee into the black water tank (aka santank) and let it drain there...but it will fill up alot quicker...so...it's best to probably have a hull fitting installed and let it drain overboard...

What area (bodies of water) will you be boating in? What is the Country/State/Province of the bodies of water and the registration of the boat?

My guess is he means the tank that holds the fresh water.

Anyone have a 1999 SC with fresh water system? If so, where's your fresh water tank located?

The "gray" water from my cockpit sink drains over board.

I hate to guess, which is why I asked. My freshwater tank is in the engine compartment and my greywater drains overboard was well. In many inland freshwater lakes and rivers even greywater discharge is prohibited, which is why I asked. I'm not sure about the Great Lakes. Clarification from the OP would be helpful.

Awesome. Make sure the tank is completely 100% secure in all 5 directions. Take pics and let us know how it goes.

Default fresh water tank dock feed

This can be under its own thread if admin's would like, but related to fresh water tank filling, a friend was telling me that it is easy to add in a dock hose feed into my boats fresh water system to eliminate the need to keep filling our tank and hot water heater with fresh water. He said we'd need to install a female recessed mount hose adaptor, and "T" it into our cold water line, and put in a check valve somewhere to avoid constant overflow.

Has anyone done this and do you have any pictures? Thx, Tom.

well...I know it's done cuz my last 2 boats have had it on them...I use dock water when we're someplace and it's nice to have...the only thing is you don't want to leave it on when your not around..just reach up to the dock spigot and shut it off when you leave for more than a few hrs......just a safety item....contact your local maxum/bayliner store and the parts dept can look the parts needed for you to install...it's relatively easy to install the plastic parts and valve..the only hard part is the transom mount...

Mine has one and it looks extrememly easy to install. I don't use it, but I had a stretch where all the connectors on the freshwater plumbing were periodically failing on me. I've since replaced all of them and a portion of the plumbing lines, but once you've had freshwater connectors fail on 5 seperate occassions, you don't easily get rid of the anxiety. Now the shore water bypass never gets used and the power switch for the pressure water pump only gets turned on when a sink needs to be used and gets turned off immediately afterwards.
