Default Throttle question

When first starting, my throttle does not always go into neutral, I am always pushing the center button, but have to move the throttle back and forth in order to get neutral to catch. Any suggestions?

Since you said push the center button I believe you are trying to disengage the shift function and not put the drive into neutral; correct? If this is correct the throttle must first be in neutral/idle in order to push the button and disengage the shift mechanism.

I cannot always disengage the drive. Otherwise, when first startup, I want to pump the gas and start with little throttle in neutral. The problem is getting into neutral. The throttle lever is straight up, I press the center button and move the throttle forward, but this doesn’t alway disengage the drive.

When the control handle is straight up is the outdrive actually in neutral?

You could also try disconnecting the shift cable in the engine compartment to see if that makes a difference. If it does I suspect the cables needs adjusting else the throttle control is wearing out.
