But seriously, Mike...
This lake has hundreds of side canyons, some barely as wide as your boat, before opening into a grand alcove.
Many go on for miles. Testing your ability to navigate AND more importantly, turn around, in very confined spaces.
Hitting a predetermined spot we call a beech--no problem  
In this picture, you can see a small arch on the upper cliff.

This was just a lunch/let the dogs pee stop. It was in Music Temple Canyon.
We always have 3 lines to shore--every night.

I bet... you have to even on a clear day the winds can pick up overnight.
OK... Music Temple Canyon? Where is that? I've probably been in it but have forgotten where it's located. I don't get up past Oak much anymore.

Got it .. Across from Hidden then.
I really need to make a run up to the Escalante soon. Maybe while I have the boat slipped in Sept/Oct so I can get an early start. Vacation days are just too limited for the rest of the year.

I try to not go to the Escalante unless I have at least 7 days.
A great place to never leave, love that arm.

On Lake Powell, you can easily get away from reality.
We found this collection of cruisers at the end of a canyon.
There is absolutely no cell service, no satelite reception, no gps signal.
This location is over 55miles from the nearest form of civilization.
About 25miles from the nearest floating gas station.
advanced preparations are a must, you are your own rescue crew.

This is one of thousands of alcoves on the lake.
Each are made more or less accessible by fluctuating water heights.(water right now is down around 95' from full)
These cliffs would be 5-600' tall. The alcove itself, around 150-200' deep.
The Anasazi indians lived in this area for a time and built shelter in many of these alcoves.

Yeah a difference of night and day to compare the two unique body's of water.
I would be freckin out because of all the hard rocks out there.

I may be un intentionally deceiving you...
We go to the lake generally twice a month, for 4-5 days at a time.
I take a lot of pictures when there and post them as I finish processing.(as time allows)
So--heres a pic for today, even though I'm not there
