Starting the boat: 1996 Maxum 2000 SCL

new to boating...1996 Maxum 2000 SCL....5.7L V8 mercruiser alpha one....what is the best way to start the boat, and is a manual available? Thank you

The boat manual is pretty much worthless IMO. The engine and outdrive manuals can be found under Documents of this site.

Cold starting procedure is to first push the button in on the control to disengage the shift cable and pump the throttle 2-3 times the turn key. If the boat has been sitting for a week or more I first crank the engine 2-3 times then follow the procedure I stated. Warm starting is just turn the key.
