Seasickness - Maxum Boat Owners Club

I've been in the water now for about a week and have the worst seasickness ever. I've owned boats before but this is really bad. I have the bands on the wrist does not seem to work. The pills make me drowsy staying away from that. Any advice? everything is always moving :roll: ..

the television show 'Mythbusters' did a segment on seasickness remedies and by far the best performing remedy was ginger pills. It worked 100% with ZERO side effects and it's all natural. I'd start there if I were you. Check out your local vitamin supply store. heck, Wally world might even carry them.

Rough water? I only get sea sick in large swells and at night.

Rough waters yes. I'm located on the Hudson between NYC and NJ. During the week the river is very busy with the water taxis and ferry serice to and from NY. Last week was really rough to because of the storms.

I think you might be suffering from an inner ear infection...Otitis media.

This Condition can cause motion sickness like symptoms since it interfers with the equalibrium system within the ears.

Thanks for the tip MW. It's been over three weeks now and I still feel some rocking. It's been a while since my last ear exam, I'm due.
Everyone that gets on the boat feels the same. I've gone thru 2 older dock lines, thats how rough the water at the marina gets. The other boaters have seen cleats break off the dock but at night the water is clam.

well..first off...if your in a marina that is that rough..I'd either be looking at moving the boat to another marina that has a break water or I'd look at reinforcing the lines more so that you have more fenders on the dock side and more lines with snubbers to help reduce the jerking...

now...I've been on boats for a long time and I still get a bit dizzy at times..it happens when the boat goes one way and your eyes do something else.....

This weekend I may pick up some rubber shock asorbers that the dock line wrap around.

I guess the snubbers are those rubber things..

yep....they reduce the shock of the wave/wind action on the lines..

let us know how it goes...

we stay onboard our boat all the time..

Mine's a queen sized midberth bed...
