boy...talk about dumb and dumber working on boats.....lets see...we're gonna cut into this fuel tank with an ELECTRIC saw....it should be empty!!..boom!!!...

when I was in the AF back in the mid 70's....2 guys went to work on an old DC9 or some sort of 4 engine plane...took an electric drill out to the wing to drill out some rivets ...plane full of fuel.....BOOOM!!!...found both of them about 1500 ft away balled up and smoking in the middle of the runway.....aircraft destroyed....burnt right to the ground.....two more removed from the gene pool.....

Article includes the line, "At least four other boats were damaged." .....I'd say damaged is putting it lightly.

I must say that I am just a little bit surprised that fiberglass and vinyl would burn like that.

The same thing happen about 100 miles north of us in a small town marina named Seneca on the Illinois River. 15 boats burnt and arson they think was the cause.

The marina where our boat is stored outside we have a extension cord coming from the inside storage electical box and comes out right behind our boat. I use it to charge the batteries every month. The old cord, as of yesterday is history. The ground was broken off and about 5 or 6 black tape repairs in this old 100 feet extension cord plus it has to be only 14 or 16 gauge wire. I spent good money at Lowe's on a 12 gauge heavy duty outside extension cord. I sleep much better!

I drove by there and the owner of the Searay drop his price down to $29,900.00.......

I think it will buff out...

Fiberglass is a petrolium based product, like burning a plastic model as a kid.

That take was more then a little fuel of gas, and I bet they had a propane tourch or other fuel source that got it going.

Its also one way to unload your boat payments......

Had this happen in a marina next to ours this past spring. Shade-tree mechanic and the boat owner working on the engine. Fuel spill combined with spark. Engine compartment catches fire. The only accessible small extinguisher lasted about 10 seconds. Spilling a beer on the fire would have been more effective. The two guys jumped out of the boat and ran down the dock, leaving the boat to burn. When all was said and done. 3 boats were lost.

Sounds like a couple of real dock heroes.
