San Diego Fourth of July

How's the boating in the evening on the 4th of July in San Diego for the Big Bay Boom? Has anyone done that?

I'm thinking about launching from Shelter Island...Harbor Island is one of the places they will have a barge for the firework display.

Just wondering if it's worth is or is it just a cluster f*** out there on the water at that time?
(I'd imagine it would be)
