Remove cushion from open bow

I have a 1997 1900xr with an open bow and I'm trying to remove the front cushion in the hopes of gaining access underneath the bow (by the front light) to install a trolling motor. It's the cushion right in the front. It tends to move up and down when I tug it a little but I can't seem to pull it off. Are these clipped on from the back and onto the fiberglass or screwed on (to a backing/plate) at the time of install? I don't want to pull up too hard and have to explain things to the wife.
