Default Portable Generator Question

Hello all,

We managed to survive Sandy with only the loss of electrical power (4 days) and a few branches.

I'm now thinking of purchasing a Yamaha 2000, which I hope would power the sump pump and maybe a few lights.

My question is: I have a 2002 Maxum 2700 SCR with I believe a 7000 btu AC (no book for the AC). Would the 2000 power the AC?

I have CO monitors and will purchase additional ones.

Thanks.

The Yamaha and Honda 2K will both run the sump pump and a couple of lights without a problem. If you want more lights use LED's or CFL's. The 2K's might even run your fridge.

You really need to know what the start up amp requirement is for your A/C (and for your home fridge for that matter) to know if the 2K will work. The A/C may have a data plate or lable on it with the specifications.

Beyond 13.3 amp draw on the Honda 2K and it goes into guardian mode. The engine is still running, but not outputting any power.
