Ok I’m new here and just purchased a 2000 2400 SCR wondering the easiest way to wire in a Garmin GPSmap I have from a previous vessel. Could figure it out I’m sure but lots of people here have tons of experience….

Welcome aboard!

It would be helpful to know which unit you have. Due to the helm design it will need to be mounted on a bracket or RAM. Under the helm provides access to the fuse panel. I would wire the power to one of the unused accessory switches.if you will be using a NEMA backbone it will need to get power prior to the head unit so I would go with the hot side of the fuse panel feed from the engine compartment harness.

Tie the power into a Aux switch at the helm. Tie the negative into the negative bus bar under the helm. Most has a negative bus bar attach to the fuse panel. If there isn't a hole already then find a place to drill and run the cable out to the unit. Use a cable gland to seal where the cables comes out. This makes it look neater and keeps water out.
