Default Parts Deals

Last weekend I had a bilge full of water. I realized that I'd busted the thermostat to Water Pump hose and once I shut that engine down, the auto bilge pump emptied out the bilge just fine. So, I get home and start to hunt for the hose. West Marine had this hose for around 40 bucks. On the cheap side, Boatfix.com had it for 24 dollars. But it was an interesting comment by the folks at West Marine that got me thinking. The guy said, "ya know, ya might wanna try Advance Auto Parts or Autozone for that hose. After all, it is really a car engine." Obviously with the caveat of an open cooling system. Anyway, sure enough , O'reilly Auto parts was able to cross reference the sierra part number and I was able to go 6 blocks from my home and pick up the same hose for 18 bucks. Sometimes, thinking outside the "marine box" can save you some money

just make sure it's not an electrical item your cross referencing...including carburation items..marina and auto parts are different in that aspect.......
but belts and hoses are ok to use....
