Default New Tow Rig

So, I'm thinking if I chip it and watch the temps on the hills I should be OK with my new tow rig.... what do you think?

too small.... your going to go ass over tail.

ford wheel base is to short, the back of the boat swinging in the wind from a passing truck will pull your front wheels...

i know to many RV trailer stories.....

might want to re think this.

It's got brakes on both axles so I know I can stop it.

Wow. What's the weight of boat/trailer? Make sure you have 140w oil in the differential.

It's to small.
This year we got a 2400scr and our Ford Expedition with a 5.4 had a hard time going up hills in the summer heat the fluids would overheat not good. We purchased a F250 with a V10 and large oil and transmission coolers we now pull the boat with no problem.
Good luck.

I also think it's too small. With brakes on both axles you should be ok stopping it but how the rig handles will be a different story. Very likely a case of the tail wagging the dog. You will have to make sure you get the tongue weight just right. And once you get the tongue weight right you will probably find that the rear of the Ex is too low. Idealy you want the truck and trailer to be level.

My guess is your boat/trailer combination weighs in excess of 7K pounds and I don't think the Explorer is rated to tow that much. Then, if you load the truck with supplies, equipment, and bodies - well, you get the idea.

If you are towing only short distances at low speeds you might get by with it.

go to you tube and search "RV crashes" and you will see how the wind will push any trailer and flip the tow vehicle.

I'm guessing that you've towed the boat already, how'd it go?

Guys, I was joking ..... A friend of mine is traveling to China for an extended period of time so i gave her a ride to the airport and she left her truck at my place. Lucky fro me i realized where she had parked it and asked for the keys so I could move it when needed or I would not be going to Lake Powell tomorrow

I though it looked funny so I posted the pic. I tow with an F250 Diesel.
