I think it's a gel coat......so..need to ruff sand it all and then have a gelcoat sprayed on....

I know it's a coloured gelcoating but i yust want to give it a little touch-up
if it wouldnt have a repair spot or been schratched i would have polished the gelcoat
spraying a new gelcoat is a job i can't do myself and it's to thick
since it's above the waterline i was thinking of spraying or roling a very thin layer of 2 component paint.
after that a new Maxum logo and it's ready to go

I didn't know that there are so many options to conceal the scratches! I thought it's the same like with a car, where you also have 2-3 possibilities but that's it. After reading all your posts I guess that gelcoating sounds like the best option, to cover up everything!

Rens,

There is no way you can roll the paint on and have it turn out as smooth as the existing finish.

Since the hull (below the water line) and the cap (above the current gray color) are both white gel coat, I'm thinking the gray part is either paint over the white gel coat, or possibly even vynil - but probably paint. If the scratches go all the way through the gray then you would have to fill those in. If not, you might be able to use a good rubbing compound to get the scratches out.

the grey is a gelcoat like the white gelcoat on the top cap....if you have a bunch of spider cracks....they can be edge sanded out and filled quite easily...

it's just painted right over the white on the cap..they mask off where the cockpit is....and spray it on after it's out of the mold....doesn't take but a few hrs to do...
